I read that sentence for the first time a week before the inception of this website, and the special meaning behind the word "Mountain" immediately struck me in the chest and implanted itself. Read it one way and the sentence is a simple statement of what the mountain is doing - keeping still - but read it another way, and it becomes a complex message concerning the difficulty of self-actualization. I was having trouble focusing during my meditation until I realized it was not the meditation I was struggling with but the Mountain. It was not myself at war with myself; it was myself at war with my not-self, with ego-loss, with stillness.

 

All of us are making a journey up the Mountain. We call it life.
